Bill Gram-Reefer : yeah so every time he slumps, Sosa catches up then Mac gets hot again...that's been the pattern now for the past 3-4 weeks.

Rusty Tucker I've had a few reports of crashes while opening it.
Rusty Tucker But I have not been able to reproduce it here, ever.

Bob Nunn : Any reports of install problems on TF4.0 Windows on clean installs?
Rusty Tucker I also need to get the chat slider working again too
Rusty Tucker I've have a report of a problem with TFUW4 not working with some modems.
Rusty Tucker I've got that fixed and waiting for the next release.
Bob Nunn : perhaps I should say virgin installs. First time for TF client of any kind. Had 2 people tell me they had problems. Am looking into specifics but suspect modem selection
Rusty Tucker What kind of problem?
Bob Nunn : I had phonemail that they couldn't get it to work. Too general right now. Both long distance users so I have to wait for them.
Rusty Tucker Just the old " It didn't work" problem ? :)
Bob Nunn : I passed out about 30 copies at our sales meeting.
Rusty Tucker The one that I ran into was an internal lap top modem.
Rusty Tucker It needed to see RTS ( HH ) before it would initialize and dial
Bob Nunn : I had a slight problem on one I mentioned before that I was using. Had a 56k internal and while it worked it wouldn't work reliably. System would not answer after the modem had connected.
Rusty Tucker That's a modem problem, not software. It freaked your Host modem and crashed it.
Rusty Tucker U mean that the host would not answer calls after that one, right?
Bob Nunn : Okay, I need to figure out a way for them to send an ATZ. Yes that is right. It worked sometimes but not always.
Rusty Tucker TeleFinder already sends ATZ when it hangs up.
Rusty Tucker but if the modem is already crashed...
Rusty Tucker it won't do any good
Rusty Tucker You need to hook it up to a toggle port on your PowerKey
Rusty Tucker then you can reset the modem from a remote location

Rusty Tucker Does that make sense Bob?
Rusty Tucker Usually, a modem locks up because it crashes. Once it crashes, you can't talk to it through the serial port any more.
Rusty Tucker That's why internal modems and ADB modems really suck for servers.

Rusty Tucker With those, the only way to reset is to reset the whole computer.
