Greetings! Welcome to AmigaNet Many of you may be wondering what AmigaNet is and what it is about. Simply put, AmigaNet is the Amiga Network. It is dedicated to the support of the Amiga as a business as well as home computer. The idea is to provide support on all fronts to all users. This is done via the transmission of messages across the network. We have many other projects in the works including an online magazine for sysops. AmigaNet is a very young network. We are still very much in the first stages of developement. We still need people to fill in various positions, such as Regional and Net Coordinators. We also need writers for the various articles to be carried by the online magazine. As you can see, you will get out of AmigaNet what you put in. It is through everyone's efforts that this Network works. This network exists in the form of Zones and Regions. AmigaNet for North America is Zone 40. There are currently nine Regions in existence for Zone 40. These Regions are in the following form... Region 1: Eastern Time Zone United States Region 2: Central Time Zone United States Region 3: Mountain Time Zone United States Region 4: Pacific Time Zone United States Region 5: Eastern Time Zone Canada Region 6: Central Time Zone Canada Region 7: Mountain Time Zone Canada Region 8: Pacific Time Zone Canada Region 9: Mexico Other Regions may be added on an as needed basis. Anyone desiring to be a member of AmigaNet must FREQ (file request) a copy of the current policy and the nodelist. The current Policy may be FREQ'd by the magic name AMYPOL. The current nodelist may be FREQ'd by the magic name AMYLIST. People desiring to be members must then locate their proper Region and request the file AMYAPP.TXT, magic name AMYAPP. Complete AMYAPP and send it to the proper Net or Regional Coordinator. AMYAPP may also be FREQ'd from 1:106/365, if the proper Net or Regional Coordinator can not be determined by the requesting system. For convenience, AMYAPP will be enclosed at the end of this file. Murphy's Law BBS (1:106/365) is the Texas NC/NEC for AmigaNet, so if you are located in Texas I will be the one you need to apply to to receive your node number. As I mentioned earlier, AmigaNet is still very young. We are a small and friendly Network operated by amateur Amiga Computer enthusiasts. As such, the petty arguments and hassles found on the larger Networks don't exist. AmigaNet believes strongly in the fact that ALL computer users are equal. Everyone has their own right to their own opinion. Arguments and or the slamming of someone just because their idea is different will not be tolerated by the users of AmigaNet. In other words, keep it friendly. Below is the aforementioned AMYAPP. Please use any standard ASCII editor and clip this file on the dotted lines. -------------------------[ Cut Here ]------------------------------------ AmigaNet Node Number Application NOTE: Before filling out this application, be sure to secure copies of AMYPOL and the current AMYLIST. Aliases are not allowed as Sysop Names, and home phone is required. 2) Rename the file to LASTNAME.APP, where LASTNAME is your last name. Example: BAKER.APP **** SMITH.APP 3) Netmail a msg to your Net or Regional Coordinator with the file LASTNAME.APP included as a file-attach. 4) You're all done! The information will be processed within seven days, and if the information is complete and the application accepted, you will receive your net/node number via Netmail.
